Zim and Zou Paper Wonders

I love the work this French duo, Lucia Thomas and Thibault Zimmermann of Zim &Zou. Their projects are fresh and different with a contemporary approach to graphic design utilizing paper sculpture. Their latest work, Back to Basics is a brightly colored retro scene of camera's, cell phones and tape decks. It took them a year to get this to come to life and their still working on it! They have done some really great work, check em out!

DIY Paper Roses

I made these paper roses for a web banner for the infamous Pioneer Woman. I create her banners every month and this month I wanted to do something a little more up my paper craft alley :) They are really easy and fun to make and look so sweet on branches! Android Fashion/ A Cut Above

Vladimir Paripovic is a Belgrade architect and created these paper inspired fashion pieces for window installations at Belgrade Design Week 2011 / 100% FUTURE SERBIA . Utilizing paper and transparent textile his android outfits are both futuristic and avaunt guard. You can see more of his work here.

"BDW's 100% FUTURE SERBIA segment will be devoted to the promotion of young and talented designers, whose works will be presented in shop windows all over the city center. The main idea is to transfer classical museum exhibitions to the streets of the city and to present them to a wider general audience, not only to those who regularly visit galleries and exhibitions. The exhibition will show 50 authors who will present their works as livesize objects and models.

Awesome Paper Wonders

I love these moving paper calendars created by Pattern Maters. Such a clever and beautiful way to showcase pattern, craft and function.  When visiting the site, each calendar is animated to demonstrate their form. There is a calendar for every month plus other projects as well. So lovely.

"Pattern Maters is a graphic design-based project inquiring on possible ways to augment the role of pattern by looking into the design process and tactile exploration through pattern making. It demonstrates the way of how this design element of pattern can be adopted differently on various platforms in graphic design. The main objective of this project is to inspire designers to look at pattern in every possible angles. Pattern Matters also aims to demonstrate that pattern is a crucial form of design element in graphic design which eventually evident that pattern is not merely a decorating tool."

Make it Beautiful was created by art director, Erin Jang for the May 2011 ipad issue for Martha Stewart Living.  Such a lovely little number to get you in the mood for spring!

Still Life Comes to Life

This is a beautiful piece of paper sculpture and typography. Planning this must have taken quite a bit of time. It sure came out awesome though!

"Using thousands of pieces of paper folded and glued together to form the sentence that describes and illustrates the concept. The topographic shape transitions from the still nature of paper to the mountainous organic structure, while keeping its geometric character."
