Henri Cartier-Bresson at the SF MOMA

Went to San Francisco this weekend and visited the MOMA. There's a great show on the famous photographer, Henri Cartier-Bresson. Some consider him the father of photo journalism. He was well known for capturing life on the run and also helped to develop street photography style. It's a great exhibition and retrospect of his entire career.

I'm loving the work of Carl Kleiner. He's definitely got a knack for layout, whether it be food styling, fashion driven, playing with found imagery or utilizing paper. His photos are artistically shot and very playful. LOVE!

Super Hero Grandma

French Photographer Sacha Goldberger has been having a great time shooting his 91-year-old grandmothe. Apparently she was feeling a little lonely and depressed, so he talked her into taking a series of photographs in unusual costumes, poses and locations. She is also a major part of his site.
 I needed these today! She's awesome...

More–Inspired by Polaroid!

 Check out this new iphone app Shakeit created by Nick Sayes. It combines the slow-developing, whacked-out colors of the Polaroid with the shake-tastic abilities of the iPhone. The result is a photo that actually does develop faster if you “shake it like a Polaroid picture”.

Nick’s application takes photos from the iPhone’s camera (or on the Touch, from the picture library) and turns them into facsimiles of old instant film pictures. The photos slowly fade into view and come in three flavors, replicating famous instant emulsions.

The applications is half price now! only 99¢, and there’s also an ad-supported lite version with a single Polaroid film-type that outputs at a lower resolution.

Lately, I have been seeing lots of photos on blogs (particularly wedding and some design blogs ) that are made to look like the old 1960-70's style photo's and snapshots...hmmm, what do you think?

Boopsie Daisy

I'm working on a lookbook for Ninebird and came across the work of Missy Munday, a talented artist out of Canada. Of course, I found her on etsy :) Her work cracks me up! It's oozing with sweetness and just makes you smile. The saturated hues and juxtapose she creates within each of her pieces result in eye candy that pops off the page. When I checked out her flickr site I was overloaded with her whimsical imagination in such a good way. Her photographs are fun, bright and original. See for yourself.

Her shop Boopsie Mart specializes in prints, cards, dollies, buttons, magnets, plaques, mirrors, ornaments and oddments based around her irrational love of food & dolls.
