Zim and Zou Paper Wonders

I love the work this French duo, Lucia Thomas and Thibault Zimmermann of Zim &Zou. Their projects are fresh and different with a contemporary approach to graphic design utilizing paper sculpture. Their latest work, Back to Basics is a brightly colored retro scene of camera's, cell phones and tape decks. It took them a year to get this to come to life and their still working on it! They have done some really great work, check em out!

The Art of Papercutting

Wow! is all I can say to describe the work of Los Angeles based artist, Elsa Mora. She does wonderfully detailed papercuts. When I first saw her work, Frida Kahlo came to mind. All of her work is done by hand and she sells them in her shop too. I love the 3D rings and the stark white pieces with little bits of red. So very beautiful. Bravo Elsa!

Birds & Butterflies

I'm in the mood for a little quite after last night :). Don't get me wrong, it was a great celebration but today I feel somber and these beautiful birds and butterflies by Paul Villinski is just the treat I needed.

By re-purposing discarded material Villinski's artwork truly transforms.  Inspired by sailplanes and paragliders, metaphors of flight and soaring often appear in his work.

His butterflies are created from crushed beer cans and each piece seems to have a personality of it's own. I love the cobalt blue series and the vinyl lp butterflies are wonderful.

Belgian artist Kris Trappenier does some wonderful and intricate paper cuts using just an xacto knife. The portraits are amazing and so detailed. LOVE!

The work of Maricor Maricar takes a delightful approach to graphic design. Utilizing embroidery they have made video's, posters and other works of art to convey their objective. I love the typographical work, so detailed and lovely.
