1. Cartoon Brew is conducting a reader survey and giving away a $50 Amazon credit.

2. DIY modern platform dollhouse.

3. If the aquarium was closer to the airport, I think I'd take advantage of the $4 flight Jetblue is offering from Burbank to Long Beach this weekend. (A major freeway is going to be closed all weekend, so residents have been begged not to drive.)

1. For other Blogger users, here's a useful comment by a Blogger employee from Ann Althouse's blog:
While our export tools may have been somewhat unreliable when handling blogs this large (Althouse is one of the largest Blogger blogs!), along the way helping Ann we discovered ways to improve them and moving forward Blogger will be much better equipped to handle cases like this.

So Ann while I'm personally sad to see you go (if that is indeed the decision), I wanted to let you know that you will always have a home on Blogger and a team who cares about your experience with Blogger. That also (of course) goes for everyone. We love hearing from users, and anyone can bug me directly on Twitter (@electrobutter) if something is on their mind, or hit up the team via @blogger.
It seems like such a typical Google thing to do to make such outreach efforts only when it was too late to keep her on the platform. Her entire Blogger blog was deleted, possibly by error, possibly by a rogue Google employee, last month.

3. "For the past few years, networks have been digitally inserting ads and product placements for new products into old reruns."

McCann Erickson for Durex:
We decided to use the electronic boards held up at half time and the end of matches to signify how much extra time will be p|ayed. These boards were branded with the Durex Performa colours and logo. Of course, with our branding of the boards, the extra time took on a whole new meaning and relevance.

I love these ads by Attik for the Scion tC by, starring Zeus. Funny and they do an excellent job of showing off the car:

I couldn't make out what his brand of juice is:

The minisite features ringtones and a downloadable autographed picture.

There's also several "behind the scenes" videos, including this one in which he explains how he created Athena:

Killer Elite: Jason Statham vs. Clive Owen (with an absurd mustache) set to some sort of remastered version of The Scorpions' Rock You like a Hurricane (or is it another band doing an impression)? Just put it on a loop on Spike.

And since the version of Van Damme's Coors Light commercial that I posted last weekend was taken down:

1. Julie Taymor blaming others for the failure of the Spider-Man musical:
“It’s very scary if people are going more towards that, to have audiences tell you how to make a show,” said Ms. Taymor, a Tony Award-winning director of “The Lion King” and other stage works and films. “Shakespeare would have been appalled. Forget about it. It would be impossible to have these works come out because there’s always something that people don’t like.”
Because everyone knows of how respectful audiences were in Shakespeare's time.

2. From David Shoemaker's latest excellent article about the WWE:
The dynamic here is important: Orton looks like a champion, and has the potential to be this era's transcendent star, but hasn't put it all together. Christian looks like he should be cheering from the eighth row and so doesn't have the unequivocal support of the WWE front office that Orton enjoys, despite the fact that the audience loves him. Orton was imported to the Friday Night Smackdown brand to be its top star, so Christian, despite his incumbency, was turned heel to make room. The Internet, it should be said, hates Orton and loves Christian; live crowds have tended to be more appropriately disposed. It will probably be a great match, not least for Christian's entertaining crowd-baiting heel shtick (being so recently on the side of the angels, he has to work hard to get booed, and he works very, very hard), but also because both guys can absolutely go and have shown great chemistry in recent weeks.
3. "The little town of Juzcar in Spain has been painted blue for the Smurf movie." (It looks pretty good, actually.)
